Meet the Trainers
Chris Bontrager
Certified Personal Trainer, ACEChris is a certified trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and has had over 23 years of experience training clients of all ages and abilities. Chris is a familiar face just about anywhere in ABHF – She teaches functional group exercise for various populations including seniors, Parkinson’s and cardiac rehab. patients, and coaches her clients 1-on-1.
Aaron Gipson
Certified Personal Trainer, ACSMAaron is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CPT). Aaron’s passion lies in sports and exercise, and trains his clients, often specializing in basketball technique, mobility, and general strength, conditioning & weight loss.
Amanda Kurtz
Certified Exercise Physiologist, ACSMAmanda is certified through the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM EP-C). She earned her Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at Western Michigan University. She works with a varied clientele from athletes to those working on weight loss, with a special interest in corrective & injury prevention exercises.
Nick Hardaway
Certified Personal Trainer, ACSMNick earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from WMU in 2019. He is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CPT). Nick’s own workouts include various exercises from his bodybuilding days, but his training adapts to all intensity levels; Nick has led group exercise classes, worked in our Post-Therapy Program (involving stroke, and joint replacement recovery) and continues to welcome & guide brand new members into a fitness regimen, every day!
Shelby Hirdning
Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach & Personal Trainer, NSCABS, CSCS, NSCA-CPT Strength & Conditioning Coach, Personal Trainer Shelby earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Western Michigan University in 2021. She is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) & Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Shelby has a passion for helping people maximize their potential through training and taking their performance to the next level. She spent three years coaching basketball for Plainwell and developed a love for strength and conditioning. She has experience training athletes as well as clientele seeking weight loss and overall fitness.
Isaac Mayfield
My DesignationIsaac holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Western Michigan University and is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Isaac is currently pursuing his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification. Isaac’s interests include sports performance, day trading, anime & quality time with family. He is committed to maintaining his own fitness and strives to enrich his clients’ health & well being through motivation, support & fitness education.
