Try Warm Water Exercise
When you’re suffering from arthritis, fibromyalgia or another condition that affects the joints, doctors often recommend exercise, but pain with exercise is often a barrier. Exercising in the warm water is an excellent way to achieve more mobility with less pain.
Water is naturally buoyant and puts less stress on the joints than traditional land based exercises, like walking or running. Water also provides natural resistance. Every movement in the water works to build your muscle strength, while supporting your joints.
Exercising in the warm water works to raise your body’s temperature. Elevated body temperature causes blood vessels to dilate, increasing circulation. Just like using a heating pad can relieve pain when applied to a single body part, the warm water of the pool is a way to apply heat to all of your body at one time!
