We work with athletes at every level to help them elevate their game—on the field, court or in everyday life. Our team provides trusted guidance in training and nutrition, as well as access to comprehensive physical therapy services.

Youth Sports Performance

Jump higher. React quicker. Avoid injury. We can help our youngest athletes achieve these goals, maximize their potential, and most of all, build a lifelong love for staying active. Whether it’s little league, tennis or swimming, we incorporate sport-specific drills and exercises into every athlete’s training program.

Key objectives to youth training include:

  • Improve movement technique with running and change of direction drills
  • Enhance flexibility, mobility, stability and total-body strength
  • Reduce risk of injury
  • Increase performance on the court or field
  • Boost multidirectional speed, agility, acceleration and quickness

High School Sports Performance

From increasing lower-body strength to upping that vertical jump to crushing your 40-yard dash time, we have you covered. Whether it’s baseball, football or track and field, we incorporate sport-specific drills and exercises into every athlete’s training program.

Key objectives to high school training include:

  • Improve movement technique with running and change of direction (agility)
  • Enhance flexibility, mobility, stability and total-body strength
  • Reduce chances of injury
  • Increase performance on the court or field
  • Boost multidirectional speed, agility, acceleration and quickness

Tactical Athletic Training

Whether you’re looking to become (or stay) a member of the military, join the police force, fire department or another physically demanding occupation, we can get you fit for the job of your dreams. We go beyond simply making you stronger. We help you gain speed and agility, all while reducing your risk of injury.

Remember, you never know the situation or the physical demands you could be facing on the job. That’s why our professionals use an integrated system that blends job-specific movement training with nutrition and recovery strategies—an approach to ensure you’re prepared for the challenges of your calling. Each 60- to 70-minute session will focus on development of total-body strength, cardiovascular tactical conditioning and injury prevention. We are equipped to train up to 25 people per class.

Training can occur at the Borgess Health & Fitness Center or at your site. Objectives of tactical training classes include:

  • Increasing tactical field development
  • Boosting conditioning level
  • Challenging mental toughness
  • Building total-body strength
  • Preventing injury

High-Speed Treadmill and Ground Training

Whether you’re training for a half marathon or hoping for a more explosive start out of the batter’s box, high-speed treadmill and ground training can ramp up your performance to a whole new level. This training is ideal for athletes of all ages who are looking to increase their explosiveness, improve endurance and perfect running mechanics.

The treadmills introduce the body to different speeds and forced movements that most people aren’t normally exposed to when training on solid ground. Designed to build muscle memory, such training helps self-correct certain running mechanics like stride length and flat feet.

Advantages of high-speed treadmill and ground training include:

  • Increased stride length and frequency
  • The development of first-step quickness
  • Increased overall rate of acceleration and speed
  • Better core, flexibility and hip strength
  • Enhanced metabolic factors

VO2 and Metabolic Testing

VO2 stands for volume of oxygen. A VO2 max test finds your body’s maximum ability to consume oxygen during exercise. The maximum rate of oxygen uptake is called VO2 Max, a way to pinpoint and measure cardio-respiratory fitness. This test includes:

  • Percentage of body fat
  • Body weight
  • Identification of aerobic threshold
  • Identification of lactate threshold
  • VO2 max reading
  • Personalized training guidelines based on test results
  • Daily nutrition suggestions based on training levels/goals

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)

Resting metabolic rate testing determines how many calories your body burns at rest, along with whether you are using fat or carbohydrates as your major energy source, which will help you decide how many calories you need to eat every day to lose, maintain or gain weight. This test includes:

  • Percentage of body fat
  • Body weight
  • Circumference measurements
  • Identification of RMR
  • Efficiency of utilizing fat and carbohydrates for fuel by the body
  • Daily nutrition and exercise suggestions based on test findings

Gait Analysis

Performed by experienced medical professionals, our gait analysis program evaluates the way you move—so you can stay active with greater ease, and reduce or eliminate your risk for injury. A comprehensive, one-session assessment of:
